About us
What we do
In West Michigan, BruceMichael Wilson founded DUNYUN CDC with a powerful vision: increasing
marginalized people’s access to healthy food and educating them about healthy food. As one of the
few black organic farmers in Michigan, BruceMichael also owns the Groundswell Community Farm,
an organic vegetable growing venture. DUNYUN CDC’s mission is transforming Black youth and
their relationship to organic farming, offering good food in underserved neighborhoods, and restoring
truth and respect to Black history and Black farming.
Throughout the last 100 years, the percentage of Black farmers has decreased from 14% in 1920 to
1.2% in 2012. DUNYUN CDC intends to change this disturbing ratio by targeting community
education and addressing the root causes of food system inequities. DUNYUN CDC will initiate
community collaboration supporting equitable policy changes. These changes will conquer food
insecurity rooted in communities of color.
With the help of a dynamic board, expert advisors, a visionary founder, and innovative goals,
DUNYUN CDC’s Strategic Plan provides an authoritative roadmap to accomplish its mission.
